Temple Announced for Northern Colorado

2 April, 2011

President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today announced plans to build a temple in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The Fort Collins Temple will be the 2nd in Colorado.  A temple was dedicated in Denver in 1986.

Worldwide, there are currently 160 temples either in operation, under construction or announced.

Unlike regular Church meetinghouses where all are welcome for congregational worship on Sunday and other activities throughout the week, temples are closed on Sunday and are used by members of the Church for their most sacred ordinances including marriage where families are “sealed,” or blessed to last for eternity.
