Membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northern Colorado continues to grow. The most recent reports indicate that there are approximately 142,000 members of the Church statewide.

Brief History of the Church in Colorado
In 1858, a Latter-day Saint family by the name of Rooker, interested in reports of gold in the area, became the first Anglo family to settle on Cherry Creek in the area that became Denver.
Church growth has been steady since World War II. by 1950, membership was nearly 10,000. It increased to 20,000 in 1960 and doubled again to 40,000 by 1970. By 1980, it was 69,000.
Today, one in 36 Coloradans is LDS.
Church members in Colorado come from all walks of life and share a rich heritage of community and public service. They are active in youth sports leagues, community events, the Boy Scouts and much more. They are teachers, dentists, construction workers, mothers, fathers and your neighbors.
