10 March 2011: Construction to Begin at the Phoenix Temple Site

During the next few weeks, site work in preparation for construction of the Phoenix Temple is set to begin. The City of Phoenix approved the site plans for the temple in August 2010, and has now issued permits for vegetation removal and salvage, construction of a temporary parking lot, fencing, drainage, and other preparatory site work.

As this construction phase begins, one of the local Church congregations meeting in the adjacent chapel has moved to another building to avoid any potential parking problems while the temple is under construction.

As a place of holiness and peace, the Phoenix Temple is designed to inspire and beautify the community. Everything that occurs in a temple is ennobling as members are reminded of their place in God’s plan and the importance of family.

The Temple will be the fifth to be built in Arizona following the completion of the Gilbert Arizona Temple which was started late last year.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony prior to temple construction has not yet been scheduled.
